 Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the Foundation?

To develop sound financial support for Trussville City Schools, both for present and future needs.

How does that work?

The Foundation will make funds for some needs available immediately while also building an endowment that will support our schools for generations to come.

How will the Foundation be funded?

Through contributions from individuals and the corporate community and through yearly fund-raising events.

What kind of difference will the Foundation make in our schools?

In our schools, the Foundation will work in cooperation with the Trussville City Schools superintendent and her staff to identify areas where financial support is crucial to achieving goals or completing projects. The Foundation will be able to fill needs that are not covered in the school system’s general budget.

What kind of difference will the Foundation make to our community?

A top-notch school system is always a source of pride for every community. Striving for its success can unite us as we work toward a common goal. Well-educated young people will make brighter leaders for the future. And as our schools draw people and business to our city, property values rise.

How is the Foundation different from the PTA/PTO and other school fund-raising groups?

The Foundation will seek broad community support – including, but not limited to, parents and teachers. Our long-term goal is to create an endowment fund which will provide year-to-year funding of projects not normally funded by parent-teacher groups and booster clubs. We support the efforts of these organizations and expect to complement their valuable work.

What are the Foundation’s immediate goals?

In addition to creating an endowment fund, the TCS Foundation will provide funding for: technology needs, media equipment, laboratory equipment, professional development, and meet many of the needs at the new high school, including the Performing Arts Center.

How can I get involved?

By supporting the Foundation and, if you’re interested, working on one of our committees or on special projects such as fund-raisers.

How is the Foundation’s leadership structured?

A board of directors, consisting of community leaders dedicated to the success of our Trussville City Schools, carefully evaluate the needs of each school. The directors work closely with our liaisons: the TCS superintendent, a TCS Board of Education member, a Trussville City Council member and a Trussville Chamber of Commerce representative.

An Advisory Board made up of a variety of people from the community will aid the Board of Directors in its work. General members may serve on committees and take an active role in the Foundation.
